Lyrical Devotions - Healing Rain Series - "Your Love"

Healing Rain Series
His Relentless Love

"For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

"I'm so far away
From the only place I know I should be
so find me
and take me

Come like the day, come chase away this darkness
I've been living here so long and I give up
Come wash away everything I've built between us
And I will sing unending songs of Your love

I cannot find rest
I can't catch my breath from running away
So stop me, and take me

Come like the day, come chase away this darkness
I've been living here so long and I give up
Come wash away everything I've built between us
And I will sing unending songs

Your love has stolen my heart, and Your love has set me apart
Your love is life in my veins and all my mistakes fade away
So find me and stop me, and take me, and save me

Come like the day, come chase away this darkness
I've been living here so long and I give up
Come wash away everything I've built between us
And I will sing unending songs of Your love (Your love)
it's Your love
"

Sometimes the pain is so excruciating that we run from the very Hands that can bring us healing. We close ourselves up to God's comfort, salvation, and strength.

We may run to other sources of comfort, such as friends, the internet, TV, electronic games, inappropriate relationships.... Or we may simply close up altogether, curling up in a proverbial corner, our arms tightly hugging our knees and our eyes squeezed shut.

Either way, we are building walls between our heart and God with each moment we spend running away from Him. The only thing we can do is call out to Him to come and "chase away the darkness" and tear down the walls we've built.

I guarantee that His love will come down to where you are and overtake you. It will completely steal your heart from those less satisfying solutions. The very gloriousness of it will pour forth from your lips and your life onto those around. It's that consuming.

Every year, I create a playlist centered around that year's theme. The first year I did this was 2008. It was a very painful time for me. I was in need of some major healing. God used a lot of songs to minister to me during that time. That's how the very first "year in review" playlist was born. I called it Healing Rain, and sorted it into five categories - His Relentless Love, His Healing Touch, His forgiveness, His Powerful Work, and His Wonderful Glory . I will share with you these songs and why they mean so much to me over the next several weeks.
