I don't know about you, but I'm finding it hard to stick to the bare minimum. I'd like to think that surely it's easy enough to keep up with a few very basic things, but for some reason, it's hard.
I am not a morning person, especially when I am sleep deprived. So when the call of motherhood wakes me each morning, I sit in my comfy chair and snooze while all the kids wake up one by one. Once they're all awake and I have to stay awake, I pull my laptop onto my lap and check into the interent world to see what happened during the night. (Know what? Nothing ever does.)
Finally when the diapers threaten to leak and the kids are crying for breakfast, I pull my half asleep self out of the chair to start the day. By the time everyone is dressed and has eaten breakfast and the baby is down for her nap, it's 10:00 and we're just getting started with school. This may be fine for 2- 2 1/2 hours of kindergarten work, but this will not do forever.
I also find the computer to be a distraction. I come to it to "do something important" - look up school plans, pay bills, etc. - and get totally distracted by emails, someone chatting, facebook, blog stats....
It's dissappointing to realize these things, but also enlightening. You can't fix a problem if you don't know what the problem is.
I've been adding things to my brainstorming routine list. I've got quite a bit there, but not a ton. I actually feel like I must be forgetting something, because it's not long enough. ha ha.
How's the daily bare minimum going for you? Are you getting it done each day? I started a discussion in the OYOL FB discussions tab, if you want to chat about it.
